Extension in Service of teachers after attaining the age of superannuation Punjab School Teachers Extension In Service Act, 2015 26 of 2015 An Act to prevent disruption of studies of students in the schools on account of retirement of teachers on attaining the age of superannuation in the midst of an academic session. BE it, enacted by the Legislature of the State of Punjab in the Sixty-sixth Year of the Republic of India, as follows:- 1. Short title and commencement :- (1) This Act may be called the Punjab School Teachers Extension in Service Act, 2015. (2) It shall come into force on and with effect from the date of its publication in the Official Gazette. 2. Definitions :- In this Act, unless the context otherwise requires, "teacher" means a regular teacher, who serves in a school, located in the State of Punjab. 3. Extension in Service of teachers after attaining the age of superannuation :- Notwithstanding anything contained in any law or service rules applicable to the teachers, all such teachers, who would otherwise have retired from service on completion of age of superannuation on any day falling between the 1st day of August of a year and the last day of the month of February of the succeeding year, except in case of their otherwise voluntary option, shall continue in service, and they shall be deemed to be on extension in their service after the date of superannuation up to the 31st day of the following month of March with the condition that there shall neither be any increment nor any promotion during the period of the said extension specific to these teachers only.
