S.S. Saron, J.@mdashThe petitioners are a newly married couple. They had a liking for each other and have solemnized their marriage amongst themselves. The marriage was solemnized by the petitioners at Gurudwara Guru Ka Bagh, Akali Bunga Nihang Singhan, Khuda Ali Sher, U.T., Chandigarh on 5.9.2010. as per Sikh rites. The certificate of marriage (Annexure-P.3) issued by the said Gurudwara and photographs (Annexure-P.4) have been placed on record. The marriage that has been solemnized is not to the liking of the parents (respondents No. 4 and 5) of petitioner No. 1. Therefore, the petitioners apprehend danger to their life and liberty. The petitioners also submitted an application dated 6.9.2010 (Annexure-P.5) to the S.S.P., Ropar (respondent No. 2) for providing protection and security to them. Despite the said application the threat to them persists. It is submitted that the petitioners are major. The date of birth of petitioner No. 1 as per her Matriculation Examination certificate (Annexure-P.1) issued by the Punjab School Education Board is 13.1.1991 and that of petitioner No. 2 as per his Matriculation Examination certificate (Annexure-P.2) issued by the aforesaid Board is 6.3.1989. The averments made in the petition are supported by an affidavit of petitioner No. 1.

2. Both the petitioners are present in Court and are identified by their counsel. It is stated by petitioner No. 1 that she has solemnized her marriage with petitioner No. 2 of her own free will and desire and without any kind of pressure or undue influence. Besides, she is happy with her marriage. It is submitted by both the petitioners that they were not earlier married.

3. In the afore-noticed facts and circumstances, the present criminal miscellaneous petition is disposed of with a direction to respondents No. 2 and 3 that in case the petitioners approach any of them setting out their grievances as have been made in the present petition the same shall be duly considered and looked into by them independently and in accordance with law.
