1. Applicant Devendra Singh Rawat is in judicial custody in Case Crime No.16 of 2022, under Sections 8/20/60 of the Narcotic Drugs and

Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985, Police Station Salt, District Almora. He seeks short term bail on the ground of the death of his father.

2. Heard learned counsel for the parties and perused the record.

3. Learned counsel for the applicant would submit that the applicant is the only son of his father, who died on 28.02.2024. Therefore, in order to

perform the post death rituals, he may be enlarged on short term bail. The death certificate has also been filed.

4. Learned State Counsel confirms that the father of the applicant died on 28.02.2024.

5. Without adverting further on any aspect of the matter, purely on the humanitarian ground, this Court is of the view that, the applicant may be

granted short term bail for a period of two weeks from the date of his release.

6. Short term bail application is allowed.

7. Accordingly, the applicant shall be enlarged on short term bail only for a period of two weeks from the date of his release on his executing a

personal bond and furnishing two reliable sureties, each of the like amount to the satisfaction of the Court concerned. It is further directed that, on

expiry of two weeks, the applicant shall surrender before the court concerned and intimation to this effect shall also be given to this Court.

8. Let a certified copy of this order be supplied to learned counsel for the parties, today itself, on payment of usual charges.
