K. Kannan, J.@mdashThe appeal is for enhancement of compensation. The death was of a 12 years old boy and the parents were the claimants. The tribunal assessed a compensation of Rs. 85,000/- as payable. I shall rework the compensation on the legal parameters laid down through several decisions.

2. There could be no loss of dependence for the parents when the child himself was a dependent. However, the economic and social status of parties and the expectation of parents will assume significance. I will take the likely contribution to the parents at Rs. 1000/- and take the likely financial loss at Rs. 10,000/- per year. I shall also provide for loss of love and affection at Rs. 50,000/- and other conventional heads and tabulate as follows:-

3. There shall be an award for Rs. 2,61,000/- and the additional amount brought through this award shall also attract interest at 7.5% per month. The liability shall be on the insurer. The appeal is allowed to the above extent.
