Kanwaljit Singh Ahluwalia, J.@mdashThe present petition has been filed by the newly wedded couple praying that there is imminent threat to their lives at the hands of respondents No.5 to 16 as they have not accepted their marriage.

2. Petitioner No.1 - Parwinder Kaur is stated to have attained the age of majority. Her date of birth is 21.6.1992. She has stated that she has performed the marriage with petitioner No.2 according to her own will and accord. However, the marriage is not being accepted by her parents.

3. Issue notice of motion to respondents No.1 to 4 only.

4. On asking of the Court, Mr. K.D.S. Sidhu, Additional Advocate General, Punjab, accepts notice on behalf of respondents No.1 to 4. A copy of the petition has been supplied to him and he has gone through the contents of the same. Mr.Sidhu states that no body will be permitted to take law in his own hands and disturb the prevailing peace. It is submitted by Mr.Sidhu that it is bounden duty of the State to protect life and liberty of every citizen.

5. Sub Inspector Kuldip Singh has been called from the Security Post of this Court. He has undertaken to hand over the petitioners to S.H.O., Police Station Sector 3, Chandigarh who in turn shall produce the petitioner before Senior Superintendent of Police, Mohali. Senior Superintendent of Police, Mohali is directed to ensure that no harm is caused to the petitioner. He is further directed to assess threat perception to the petitioners and if required, ensure necessary vigil that no harm is caused to the life of the petitioners, furthermore if required provide necessary protection to them.

6. With the observations made above, the present petition is disposed of. However, it is specifically observed that this Court has not determined the validity of marriage.

7. A copy of this order, duly attested by the Court Secretary of this Court, be furnished to Mr.Sidhu, Additional Advocate General, Punjab, for onward transmission and compliance.
