Kamaljit Kaur and Another Vs State of Punjab and Others

Naresh Kumar Sanghi, J.@mdashPrayer in this petition, filed u/s 482, Cr.P.C., is for the issuance of direction to respondents No. 1 to 3 to protect lives and liberty of the petitioners from respondent No. 4. The petitioners contend that they being major, have solemnized their marriage in accordance with law. They further submit that the private respondents are not accepting the marriage of the petitioners and adamant to separate them from each other by resorting to illegal means. They further submit that in view of the imminent danger to their lives and liberty they have already moved a representation (Annexure P-4) before the Senior Superintendent of Police, Jalandhar. Keeping in view the seriousness of the matter but without going into the validity of the marriage, the present petition is disposed of with a direction to the Senior Superintendent of Police, Jalandhar, to take action as warranted by law on the representation moved by the petitioners and in the meantime to issue necessary orders to ensure that no harm is caused to the lives and liberty of the petitioners at the hands of private respondents.
