RULE Agriculture Officer, Grade-I (Class-III) (Panchayat Service) Recruitment Rules, 1997 In exercise of the powers conferred by Sec. 274 read with Sec. 227 of the Gujarat Panchayats Act, 1993 (Guj. 18 of 1993) and in supersession of all the rules made in this behalf except things done or omitted to be done before such supersession, the Government of Gujarat hereby makes the following rules to provide for regulating recruitment to the post of Agriculture Officer, Grade-I (Class-III) (Panchayat Service), namely: 1. RULE :- These rules may be called the Agriculture Officer, Grade-I (Class- III) (Panchayat Service) Recruitment Rules, 1997. 2. RULE :- Appointment to the post of Agriculture Officer, Grade-I (Class-III) (Panchayat Service) shall be made either (a) by promotion of a person of proved merit and efficiency from amongst the persons who have worked as Agriculture Supervisor or Extension Officer (Agriculture) Grade-II (Class-III) (Panchayat Service) for not less than five years; or (b) by direct selection. 3. RULE :- The appointment by direct selection and promotion shall be made in the ratio of 1:2. 4. RULE :- To be eligible for appointment by direct selection to the post mentioned in Rule 2, a candidate shall, (a) not be less than 21 years and not more than 28 years of age; (b) possess a second class bachelor's degree in Agriculture from an University established by law in India or deemed to university, as per the provisions of Sec. 3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956 (Act 3 of 1956); (c) have adequate knowledge of Gujarati and Hindi. 5. RULE :- A candidate appointed by direct selection shall be on probation for a period of one year. 6. RULE :- A candidate appointed by direct selection shall be required to undergo such training for such period and pass such post-training examination as may be prescribed by the Government. 7. RULE :- A selected candidate shall be required to pass the departmental examination and an examination in Gujarati or Hindi or both as may be prescribed by the Government. 8. RULE :- A candidate appointed by direct selection shall be required to furnish a security and surity bond for such amount, in such form and for such period as may be prescribed by the Government.
