Amendment of Section 19 of Assam Act XXIV of 1968 Assam Agricultural University (Amendment) Act, 1977 09 of 1977 [05 May 1977] PREAMBLE An Act to amend the Assam Agricultural University Act, 1968. Whereas it is expedient to amend the Assam Agricultural University Act, 1968, hereinafter called the principal Act, in the manner hereinafter appearing; I t is hereby enacted in the twenty-eighth year of the Republic of India as follows:- 1. Short title and commencement :- (1) This Act may be called the Assam Agricultural University (Amendment) Act, 1977. (2) It shall come into force at once. 2. Amendment of Section 10 of Assam Act XXIV 1968 :- I n Section 10 of the principal Act, after sub-section (6), the following shall be inserted as sub-section (7), namely:-- "(7) If any member of the Board does not attend three consecutive meetings of the Board he shall be disqualified from being a member of the Board unless such absence has been caused for circumstances beyond the control of such member". 3. Amendment of Section 19 of Assam Act XXIV of 1968 :- I n Section 19 of the principal Act, in sub-section (3), the punctuation full stop (.) at the end shall be substituted by the punctuation colon (:) and the following proviso shall be inserted thereafter, namely:-- "Provided that no person shall held the office of the Vice-Chancellor beyond the age of 65 years".
