Amendment of Section 9 of Assam Act XXIV of 1968 Assam Agricultural University (Amendment) Act, 1986 07 of 1986 [22 July 1986] PREAMBLE An Act farther to amend the Assam Agricultural University Act, 1968 (Assam Act XXIV of 1968) Whereas it is expedient further to amend the Assam Agricultural University Act, 1968, hereinafter called the principal Act, in the manner hereinafter appearing; It is hereby enacted in the Thirty-seventh Year of the Republic of India as follows:- 1. Short title, extent and commencement :- (1) This Act may be called the Assam Agricultural University (Amendment) Act, 1986. (2) It shall have the like extent as the principal Act. (3) It shall come into force at once. 2. Amendment of Section 6 of Assam Act XXIV of 1968 :- In the principal Act, in Section 6, for subsection (2), the following shall be substituted, namely:-- "(2) Subject to the above provisions, the State Government may direct that the University shall reserve in Colleges seats for Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Other Backward Classes of the State and or candidates from other States in India." 3. Amendment of Section 9 of Assam Act XXIV of 1968 :- In the principal Act, in Section 9, sub-sections (4) and (5) shall be deleted and the existing subsection (6) shall be renumbered as sub-section (4).
