Whereas it is expedient further to amend the Assam Ganja and Bhang Prohibition Act, 1958 (Assam Act XXI of 1959) hereinafter called the principal Act, in the manner hereinafter appearing; It is hereby enacted in the Forty-fifth Year of the Republic of India as follows:- 1. Short title, extent and commencement :- (1) This Act may be called the Assam Ganja and Bhang Prohibition (Amendment) Act, 1994. (2) It shall, have the like extent as the principal Act. (3) It shall come into force at once. 2. Amendment of Section 18 :- In the principal Act, in section 18, in sub-section (1), (2), (3) and (4) for the words "State Prohibition Council" the words, "State Anti- Drug and Prohibition Council" shall be substituted.
