Amendment of Section 4 of Assam Act XIV of 1958 Assam Legislative Assembly Members Salaries And Allowances (Amendment) Act, 1979 09 of 1979 [26 April 1979] PREAMBLE An Act further to amend the Assam Legislative Assembly members' Salaries and Allowances Act, 1958. Whereas it is expedient further to amend the Assam Legislative Assembly Members' Salaries and Allowances Act, 1958, hereinafter called the principal Act, in the manner hereinafter appearing; It is hereby enacted in the Thirtieth year of the Republic of India as follows :- 1. Short title and commencement :- (1) This Act may be called the Assam Legislative Assembly Members Salaries and Allowances (Amendment) Act, 1979. (2) It shall be deemed to have come into force on the first day of April, 1978. 2. Amendment of Section 3 of Assam Act XIV of 1958 :- In Section 3 of the principal Act, for the words "three hundred and fifty rupees per mensem" the words "six hundred rupees per mensem" shall be substituted. 3. Amendment of Section 4 of Assam Act XIV of 1958 :- In Section 4 of the principal Act,-- (i) in sub-section (3), for the words two hundred rupees per mensem, the words "four hundred rupees per mensem", shall be substituted; (ii) the full-stop after existing sub-section (3) shall be substituted by a ":" and there after the following shall be added as a proviso thereto, namely :-- "Provided that a Member may, if he so desires, forego either in full or in part his fixed travelling allowance for any period and in the manner prescribed by rules made under this Act.
