Amendment of Section 17(1) Assam Liquor Prohibition (Amendment) Act, 1953 31 of 1953 [28 October 1953] PREAMBLE An Act to amend the Assam Liquor Prohibition Act, 1952 Whereas it is expedient to amend the Assam Liquor Prohibition Act, 1952 (Assam Act I of 1953) hereinafter called the principal Act for the purpose hereinafter appearing; It is hereby enacted as follows:- 1. Short title, extent and commencement :- (1) This Act may be called the Assam Liquor Prohibition (Amendment) Act, 1953. (2) It shall have the like extent as the principal Act. (3) It shall come into force at once. 2. Amendment of Section 17(1) :- In sub-section (1) of section 17 of the Principal Act, for the words "consisting of two or more non-official residents", the words "consisting in such proportion as the Commissioner may deem fit, of two or more official and non-official residents", shall be substituted.
