Insertion of a new section after section 3 of the Assam Act I of 1953 Assam Liquor Prohibition (Amendment) Act, 1976 15 of 1976 [16 September 1976] PREAMBLE An Act further to amend the Assam Liquor Prohibition Act, 1952. Whereas it is expedient further to amend the Assam Liquor Prohibition Act, 1952(Assam Act. 1 of 1953), hereinafter called the principal Act in the manner hereinafter appearing; It is hereby enacted in the Twenty-seventh Year of the Republic of India as followings:- 1. Short title, extent and commencement :- (1) This Act may be called the Assam Liquor Prohibition (Amendment) Act, 1976. (2) It shall have the like extent as the principal Act. (3) It shall come into force at once. 2. Insertion of a new section after section 3 of the Assam Act I of 1953 :- After Section 3 of the principal Act the following shall be inserted as Section 3A, namely:- "3A No persons shall-- (1) publish or display advertisement of liquor or of any preparation fit for use as intoxicating liquor, in the News papers, Periodicals, Journals, Hoardings, Banners, etc., printed and published in and from that area: (2) import/possess any News paper, Journal, Periodical, etc., if they contain advertisement of liquor or of any preparation fit for use as intoxicating liquor."
