Whereas it is necessary to increase the fees for the registration of Moslem Marriages and Divorces and for that purpose to amend the Assam Moslem Marriages and Divorces Registration Act, 1935 (Assam Act IX of 1935) hereinafter called the "principal Act", in the manner hereinafter appearing; It is hereby enacted as follows:- 1. Short title, extent and commencement :- (1) This Act may be called the Assam Moslem Marriages and Divorces Registration (Amendment) Act, 1953. (2) It shall have the like extent as the principal Act. (3) It shall come into force on such date as the State Government may, by notification in the official Gazette, appoint in this behalf. 2.
