Whereas it is expedient to repeal the Rent Recovery Act, 1853 (Act No. VI of 1853). It is hereby enacted in the Fifty-Fourth Year of the Republic of India as follows: 1. Short title, and commencement :- (1) This Act may be called the Assam Repealing Act, 2003. (2) It shall come into force at once. 2. Repeal and Saving :- (1) The Rent Recovery Act, 1853 (Act No. VI of 1853) is hereby repealed. (2) Notwithstanding such repeal, anything done or action taken under the Act so repealed shall be deemed to have been validly done or taken under the provisions of the Act, so repealed.
