Amendment of Section 2 of Assam Act XXV of 1958 Assam Speakers Salaries And Allowances (Amendment) Act, 1994 14 of 1994 [06 May 1994] PREAMBLE AN ACT further to amend the Assam Speaker's Salaries and Allowances Act, 1958. Whereas it is expedient further to amend the Assam Speaker's Salaries and Allowances Act, 1958 (Assam Act XXV of 1958), hereinafter called the principal Act, in the manner hereinafter appearing; It is hereby enacted in the Forty-fifth Year of the Republic of India as follows:-- 1. Short title, and commencement :- (1) This Act may be called the Assam Speakers Salaries and Allowances (Amendment) Act, 1994. (2) It shall be deemed to have come into force on the first day of April, 1994 and in respect of Sitting Allowance on and from ninth day of March, 1994. 2. Amendment of Section 2 of Assam Act XXV of 1958 :- I n the principal Act, for Section 2, the following shall be substituted, namely:-- "2 Salary and allowances of the Speaker.-- There shall be paid to the Speaker of the Assam Legislative Assembly:-- (i) a salary of three thousand rupees per mensem; (ii) a Sumptuary Allowance of five thousand rupees per mensem; (iii) a Daily Allowance of two hundred rupees while on official tour and its halt within the State of Assam: Provided that the Speaker of the Assam Legislative Assembly shall be entitled to draw double the amount of Daily Allowances entitled by the Speaker within the State whenever the Speaker performs the official duties outside the State of Assam and its halt; (iv) a Sitting allowance of one hundred and fifty rupees per day for the entire period of the Assembly Session computing two days before the commencement and two days after the termination of such Session: Provided that the sitting allowance shall not be admissible if the Speaker of the Assam Legislative Assembly performs the official tour within the State of Assam or outside the State of Assam and its halt during the period of the Assembly Session and such performance of official tour shall be intimated to the Secretary, Assam Legislative Assembly; (v) a Parliamentary Assistant Allowance of rupees two thousand per mensem; (vi) two hundred fifty liters of Petrol for Head Quarter use as fuel; and (vii) a mileage allowance of two rupees and fifty paise per kilometer as propulsion cost for the use of his official car on official duty".
