Assistant Conservator of Forests in the Gujarat Forest Service, Class-II, Recruitment Rules, 2007 In exercise of the powers conferred by the proviso to Art. 309 of the Constitution of India and in supersession of all the rules made in this behalf, the Governor of Gujarat hereby makes the following rules to provide for regulating recruitment to the post of the Assistant Conservator of Forests in the Gujarat Forest Service, Class-II, namely :- 1. . :- These rules may be called the Assistant Conservator of Forests in the Gujarat Forest Service, Class-II, Recruitment Rules, 2007. 2. . :- Appointment to the post of Assistant Conservator of Forests, Class II, shall be made either, (a) by promotion of a person of proved merit and efficiency from amongst the persons who (i) have worked for not less than five years in the cadre of Range Forest Officer, Class-II; (ii) have passed the prescribed departmental examination; and (iii) have passed the qualifying examination for computer knowledge as may be prescribed by the Government in accordance with the provision of the Gujarat Civil Services Classification and Recruitment (General) Rules, 1967: Provided that where the appointing authority is satisfied that a person having the experience specified in clause (i) is not available for promotion and that it is necessary in the public interest to fill up a post by promotion even of a person having experience for a lesser period, it may, for reasons to be recorded in writing, promote such person who possesses experience of a period of not less than two third of the period specified in clause (i). (b) by direct selection on the basis of the result of the competitive examination held for the purpose. 3. . :- The appointment by promotion and by direct selection shall be made in the ratio of 2:1, respectively. 4. . :- To be eligible for appointment by direct selection to the post mentioned in Rule 2, a candidate shall, (a) not be less than 21 years of age and not more than 28 years of age; (b) possess a Bachelor's Degree of any of the University established by an Act of Parliament or State Legislature or an educational institution established by an Act of Parliament or declared to be deemed University under Sec. 3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956 with one of the following subjects namely (i) Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Science, (ii) Botany, (iii) Chemistry, (iv) Geology, (v) Mathematics, (vi) Physics, (vii) Statistics, (viii) Zoology, (ix) Agriculture, (x) Forestry and (xi) Engineering or an equivalent qualification recognized as such by the Government for the purpose; (c) possess the following minimum physical standards Physical Standards Candidate (Except Tribal candidate of Gujarat origin) Tribal candidate Gujarat origin Male Female Male Female (a) Height 165 cms 158 cms 160 cms 156 cms (b) Chest Normal 79 cms 74 cms 76 cms 71 cms Expanded 84 cms 79 cms 81 cms 76 cms Expansion 5 cms 5 cms 5 cms 5 cms Expansion 5 cms 5 cms 5 cms 5 cms (d) possess the basic knowledge of computer application prescribed in the Gujarat Civil Services Classification and Recruitment (General) Rules 1967; (e) possess adequate knowledge of Gujarati or Hindi or both. 5. . :- The candidate appointed by direct selection shall be kept on probation for a period of two years. 6. . :- The candidate appointed by the direct selection shall during his probation period be required to undergo a course of forestry for two years at an institution recognized by the Government and to obtain Diploma or Degree or Certificate in Forestry. 7. . :- The candidate appointed by direct selection shall be required to pass the departmental examination and an examination in Gujarati o r Hindi or both in accordance with the rules prescribed by the Government. 8. . :- The candidate appointed either by promotion or by direct selection shall have to undergo such training and to pass such examination as may be prescribed by the Government. 9. . :- The selected candidate will be required to furnish a security and surety bond in such from, for such amount and for such period as may be prescribed by the Government.
