Repeal and Saving BANARAS HINDU UNIVERSITY (AMENDMENT) ACT, 1958 34 of 1958 An Act further to amend the Banaras Hindu University Act, 1915 Be it enacted by Parliament in the Ninth Year of the Republic of India as follows: 1. After receiving the assent of the President on 20th September, 1958, which was published in the Gazette of India, Part II, dated 22nd September, 1958, it is hereby published the same. 1. Short title :- This Act may be called the Banaras Hindu University (Amendment) Act, 1958. BANARAS HINDU UNIVERSITY (AMENDMENT) ACT, 1958 2. Transitional provision :- (1) Every person holding office as a member of the Court or the Executive Council, as the case may be, immediately before the 14th day of June, 1958 shall on and from the said date hold office as such: Provided that where any such person held immediately before such date any other office in the University, nothing contained in this sub-section shall be construed to affect his continuance in such other office. (2) Until the Court or the Executive Council is constituted in accordance with the provisions of clause (iii) or clause (v), as the case may be, of Section 7, the Visitor may, by general or special order, direct any officer of the University to exercise the powers and discharge the duties conferred or imposed by or under the principal Act, as amended by this Act, or the Court or the Executive Council, as the case may be. 9. Repeal and Saving :- (1) The Banaras Hindu University (Amendment) Ordinance, 1958 (4 of 1958) is hereby repealed.(2) Notwithstanding such repeal, anything done or any action taken under the said Ordinance shall be demmed to have been done or taken under this Act, as if this Act had commenced on the 14th day of June, 1958.
