Amendment Of Schedule Ii Chennai City Municipal Corporation (Amendment) Act, 2007 1 of 2007 An Act further to amend the Chennai City Municipal Corporation Act, 1919. Be it enacted by the Legislative Assembly of the State of Tamil Nadu in the Fifty-seventh Year of the Republic of India as follows:-- 1. Received the Assent of the Governor of Tamil Nadu on the January 23, 2007 -- Published in Tamil Nadu Government Gazette, Extraordinary, Part IV, Section 2, Iss. No.23, page 1, dated January 23, 2007. 1. Short Title And Commencement :- (1) This Act may be called the Chennai City Municipal Corporation (Amendment) Act, 2007. (2) It shall come into force at once. 2. Substitution Of Section 30 :- For Section 30 of the Chennai City Municipal Corporation Act, 1919 (Tamil Nadu Act IV of 1919) (hereinafter referred to as the principal Act), the following Section shall be substituted, namely:-- "30. Re-eligibility of Mayor and Deputy Mayor.-- An outgoing Mayor or Deputy Mayor is eligible for re-election.". 3. Amendment Of Section 53 :- In Section 53 of the principal Act, in sub-section (1), in clause (i) for the expression "three consecutive meetings of the council held after", the expression "the meetings of the Council for a period of three consecutive months beginning from " shall be substituted. 4. Amendment Of Schedule Ii :- In Schedule II to the principal Act,-- (1) in Rule 2, for the expression "every three months", the expression "every month " shall be substituted; (2) in Rule 4, for the expression "At an ordinary meeting held once i n every three months ", the expression "At an ordinary meeting held in each of the months of April, June, August, October, December and February" shall be substituted.
