Amendment Of Schedule Chennai Metropolitan Area Groundwater (Regulation) Amendment Act, 2008 43 of 2008 An Act further to amend the Chennai Metropolitan Area Groundwater (Regulation) Act, 1987. Be it enacted by the Legislative Assembly of the State of Tamil Nadu in the Fifty-ninth Year of the Republic of India as follows:-- 1. Received the Assent of the Governor of Tamil Nadu on May 30, 2008 -- Published in Tamil Nadu Government Gazette, Extraordinary, Part IV, Section 2, Iss. No. 170, page 159, dated June 2, 2008. 1. Short Title And Commencement :- (1) This Act may be called the Chennai Metropolitan Area Groundwater (Regulation) Amendment Act, 2008. (2) It shall come into force at once. 2. Amendment Of Section 1 :- In Section 1 of the Chennai Metropolitan Area Groundwater (Regulation) Act, 1987 (Tamil Nadu Act 27 of 1987) (hereinafter referred to as the principal Act), in sub-section (2), for the expression "Chengalpattu district", the expression "Kancheepuram and Tiruvallur districts " shall be substituted. 3. Amendment Of Section 8 :- In Section 8 of the principal Act, in subsection (1),-- (1) in clause (a), for the expression "the Board: and", the expression "the Managing Director of the Board or any officer of the Board not below the rank of Executive Engineer authorized by the Government in this behalf; and" shall be substituted; (2) for clause (b), the following clause shall be substituted, namely:-- "(b) in relation to the villages specified in the Schedule, the Collector of Kancheepuram district or Tiruvallur district, as the case may be, or any officer not below the rank of Zonal Deputy Tahsildar authorized by the Government in this behalf, within whose jurisdiction the village is situated". 4. Amendment Of Schedule :- In the schedule to the principal Act, for the expression "Chengalpattu District", the expression "Kancheepuram and Tiruvallur Districts ", shall be substituted.
