Short title and commencement 2. Standard weight and remedy allowed COINAGE (STANDARD WEIGHT AND REMEDY OF FERRITIC STAINLESS STEEL COIN OF ONE RUPEE, FIFTY PAISE, TWENTY FIVE PAISE AND TEN PAISE CONTAINING IRON EIGHTY THREE PERCENT AND CHROMIUM SEVENTEEN PER CENT) RULES, 1997 G.S.R. 642(E), dated 7th November, 1997. In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of Sec.21 read with Sec.7 of the Coinage Act, 1906 (3 of 1906), the Central Government hereby makes the following rules, namely:- 1. Short title and commencement :- (1) These rules may be called Coinage (Standard Weight and Remedy of Ferritic Stainless steel coin of One Rupee, Fifty paise. Twenty Five paise and Ten paise containing Iron eighty three percent and Chromium seventeen per cent) Rules, 1997. (2) These rules shall come into force on the date of their publication in the Official Gazette. 2. Standard weight and remedy allowed :- The standard weight of the ferritic stainless steel coins of the following denominations coined under the provisions of Sec.6 of the Coinage Act, 1906 (3 of 1906) and the remedy allowed in making such coins shall be as specified in the Table below:
