Rule Deputy Chitnis (Class-III) (Panchayat Service) Recruitment Rules, 1998 In exercise of the powers conferred by Sec. 227 read with Sec. 274 of the Gujarat Panchayat Act, 1993 (Guj. 18 of 1993) and in supersession of all the rules made in this behalf, the Government of Gujarat hereby makes the following rules to provide for regulating recruitment to the post of Deputy Chitnis (Class-III) (Panchayat Service) namely: 1. Rule :- These rules may be called the Deputy Chitnis (Class-III) (Panchayat Service) Recruitment Rules, 1998. 2. Rule :- Appointment to the post of Deputy Chitnis (Class-III) (Panchayat Service) shall be made either: (a) by promotion of a person of proved merit and efficiency from amongst the persons who have worked as Senior Clerk or Storekeeper (Class- Ill) (Panchayat Service) for not less than five years and have passed the prescribed departmental examination; or (b) by direct selection. 3. Rule :- The appointment by direct selection and promotion shall be made in the ratio of 1:3. 4. Rule :- To be eligible for appointment by direct selection to the post mentioned in Rule 2, a candidate shall (a) not be Joss than 21 years and not more than 28 years of age; (b) possess a Bachelor's degree from a University established by law in India or deemed to be University as per the provision of Sec. 3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956 (Act 3 of 1956) or an equivalent qualification; (c) have adequate knowledge of Gujarati and Hindi. 5. Rule :- A candidate appointed by direct selection shall be on probation for a period of one year. 6. Rule :- A candidate appointed by direct selection shall be required to undergo such training for such period and pass such post-training examination as may be prescribed by the Government. 7. Rule :- A selected candidate shall be required to pass the departmental examination and an examination in Gujarati or Hindi or both as may be prescribed by the Government. 8. Rule :- A candidate appointed by direct selection shall be required to furnish a security and surety bond for such amount in such form and for such period as may be prescribed by the Government.
