Rule 8. Rule Deputy Superintendent of Police (Wireless) Recruitment Rules, 1999 In exercise of the powers conferred by clause (b) of Sec. 5 of the Bombay Police Act, 1951 (Bom. XXII of 1951) and in supersession of all the rules made in this behalf the Government of Gujarat hereby makes the following rules to provide for regulating recruitment to the posts of Deputy Superintendent of Police (Wireless) in Gujarat Police Service, Class-I in the Police Department. 1. Rule :- These rules may be called the Deputy Superintendent of Police (Wireless) Recruitment Rules, 1999. 2. Rule :- Appointment to the post of Deputy Superintendent of Police (Wireless), in the Gujarat Police Service, Class-I shall be made either (a) by promotion of a person of proven merit and efficiency from amongst the persons who have worked for not less than eight years in the cadre of Police Inspector (Wireless) in the Police Department: Provided that where the appointing authority is satisfied that a person having an experience specified above is not available for promotion and that it is necessary in the public interest to fill up a post by promotion even if a person having experience for a lesser period, it may, for reasons to be recorded in writing promote such person who has experience for a period not less than two thirds of the period specified above; or (b) by direct selection. 3. Rule :- To be eligible for appointment by direct selection to the post mentioned in Rule 2, a candidate shall (a) not be less than 22 years of age and not be more than 35 years of age: Provided that the upper age limit may be relaxed in favour of a candidate possessing exceptionally good qualification or experience or both: Provided further that the upper age limit may also be relaxed in favour of a candidate who is already in the service of the Government of Gujarat in accordance with the provisions of the Gujarat Civil Services classification and Recruitment (General) Rules, 1967. (b) possess: a degree in Electronics Engineering or Electronics and Communication Engineering of a recognised university or an equivalent qualification: Provided that the above educational qualification may be waived in respect of a candidate who has served in the Armed Forces for a minimum period of three years in signals/Telecommunication branch as a Commissioned Class-I Officer. (c) possess adequate knowledge of Gujarati or Hindi or both. 4. Rule :- The appointment by direct selection and promotion shall be made in the ratio of 1:3 respectively. 5. Rule :- A candidate appointed by direct selection will be kept on probation for a period of two years. 6. Rule :- A selected candidate shall be required to pass the departmental examination if any, and examination in Gujarati or Hindi or both in accordance with the rules prescribed in that behalf by the Government. 7. Rule :- A candidate appointed by direct selection shall have to undergo such training as may be prescribed by the government and shall have to pass such examination within the prescribed chances during the period of probation. 8. Rule :- A candidate, appointed by direct selection, shall be required to furnish security and surety bonds in such form for such amount and for such period as may be prescribed by the Government.
