R. 375(E), dated 8th April, 1987 1. -In exercise of powers conferred by Sec. 3 of the Essential Commodities Act, 1955 (10 of 1955), the Central Government hereby makes the following Order, namely: 1. Short title and commencement :- (1) This Older may be called the Electrical Appliances (Quality Control) Order, 1987. (2) It shall come into force on the 1st day of October, 1987, for electrical appliances mentioned at Serial Nos. 1 to 4 in the Schedule attached to this order and on the 1st day of December, 1987, for electrical appliances mentioned at serial Nos. 5 to 7 in the said Schedule. 2. Definitions :- In this Order, unless the context otherwise requires : (a) "electrical appliances" means the electrical appliances specified in column (2) of the Schedule ; (b) "schedule" means the Schedule annexed to this order, and (c) "specified standard" in relation to an electrical appliances mentioned in Col. (2) of the Schedule, means the standard as specified in the corresponding entry in Col. (3) of the said Schedule. 3. Prohibition regarding manufacture, etc. of certain varieties of electrical appliances :- (1) No person shall by himself or by any person on his behalf manufacture or store for sale, sell or distribute any electrical appliance which does not conform to the specified standard and it would be with ISI certification mark : Provided that nothing in this order shall apply in relation to export of Electrical appliances which do not confirm to the specified standard but conform to any specifications required by the foreign buyer and such specifications shall not in any case be less than the specified standard. (2) The sub-standard or defective electrical appliances or raw material or components which do not conform to the specified standard shall be deformed beyond use and disposed of as scrap.
