English Typist (Class III) (Panchayat Service) Recruitment Rules, 1998 In exercise of the powers cnferred by Sec. 227 read with Sec. 274 of the Gujarat Panchayats Act, 1993 (Guj. 18 of 1993) and in supersession of all the rules made in this behalf, the Government of Gujarat hereby makes the following rules to provide for regulating recruitment to the post of English Typist (Class III) (Panchayat Service), namely: 1. 1. :- These rules may be called the English Typist (Class III) (Panchayat Service) Recruitment Rules, 1998. 2. 2. :- Appointment to the post of English Typist (Class III), (Panchayat Service) shall be made either (a) by promotion of a person of proved merit and efficiency from amongst the persons who have worked for not less than four years in the cadres of Inferior Panchayat Service i.e. Class IV Panchayat Service and possess the educational qualfications prescribed in sub- rule (b) of Rule 4; or (b) by direct selection. 3. 3. :- The appointment by direct selection and promotion shall be made in the ratio 8:2 respectively. 4. 4. :- To be eligible for appointment by direct selection to the post mentioned in Rule 2, a candidate shall (a) not be less than 18 years and not more than 28 years of age;] (b) (i) have passed the Secondary School Certificate Examination or an equivalent Examination. (ii) possess a certificate from the Gujarat State Examination Board prescribing minimum typing speed of 40 words per minute in English. 5. 5. :- A selected candidate shall be on probation for a period of one year. 6. 6. :- A selected candidate shall have to undergo such training for such period and pass such post-training examination as may be prescribed by the Government. 7. 7. :- A selected candidate shall be required to pass the departmental examination and an examination in Gujarati or Hindi or both in accordance with the rules prescribed by the Government. 8. 8. :- A selected candidate shall be required to furnish a security and surety bond for such amount in such form and for such period as may be prescribed by the Government.
