In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-sec. (4) of Sec. 7 of the Foreigners Act, 1946 (3.1 of 1946), the Central Government hereby makes the following' order, namely. 1. Short title and commencement. :- (1) This Order may be called the Foreigners (Report to Police) Order, 2001. (2) It shall come into force on the date of its publication in the Official Gazette. 2. Information to Police about a foreigner in certain circumstances. :- Where any person, who has reason to believe that a foreigner has entered India without valid doeument(s) or is staying in the country beyond the authorized period of stay, accommodates such foreigner in a premises, occupied, owned or controlled by him, for whatever purpose, it shall be the duty of such person to inform the nearest police station, within 24 hours, about the presence of such foreigner. 3. 3 :- The Foreigners (Report to Police) Order, 1971 is hereby repealed.
