Gujarati Stenographer, Grade II (Class III) (Panchayat Service) Recruitment Rules, 1998 In exercise of the powers conferred by Sec. 227 read with Sec. 274 of the Gujarat Panchayats Act, 1993 (Guj. 18 of 1993) and in supersession of all the rules made in this behalf, the Government of Gujarat hereby makes the following rules to provide for regulating recruitment to the post of Gujarati Stanographer, Grade II (Class III) (Panchayat Service), namely: 1. 1. :- These rules may be called the Gujarati Stenographer, Grade II (Class III) (Panchayat Service), Recruitment Rules, 1998. 2. 2. :- Appointment to the post of Gujarati Stenographer, Grade II (Class III) (Panchayat Service) shall be made either (a) by promotion of a person of proved merit and efficiency from amongst the persons who have worked as Gujarati Stenographer Grade III (Class III) (Panchayat Service) for not less than five years and who possess the qualifications as prescribed in clause (ii) of sub-rule (b) of Rule 4; or (b) by direct selection. 3. 3. :- The appointment by direct selection and promotion shall be made in the ratio of 1:3; 4. 4. :- To be eligibe for appointment by direct selection to the post mentioned in Rule 2, a candidate shall (a) not be less than 18 years and not more than 40 years of age; (b) (i) possess a Bechelor's degree from a University established by law in India or deemed to be an University, as per the provision of Sec. 3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956 (Act 3 of 1956). (ii) have passed the test of taking dictation of two passages in Gujarati Shorthand each of four mintues duration dictated at the speed of seventy five words per minute, and transcribing the same passage on typewriter within sixty minutes, (c) have adequate knowledge of Gujarati and Hindi. 5. 5. :- A selected candidate shall be on probation for a period of one year. 6. 6. :- A selected candidate shall be required to undergo such training for such period and pass such post-training examination as may be prescribed by the Government. 7. 7. :- A selected candidate shall be required to pass the departmental examination and an examination in Gujarati or Hindi or both as may be prescribed by the Government. 8. 8. :- A selected candidate shall be required to furnish a security and surety bond for such amount, in form and for such period as may be prescribed by the Government.
