Hammerer or Hammerman (Carpentary/Smithy/Welding) (Class-IV) (Panchayat Service) Recruitment Rules, 1998 In exercise of the powers conferred by Sec. 227 read with Sec. 274 of the Gujarat Panchayats Act, 1993 (Guj. 18 of 1993) and in supersession of all the rules made in this behalf, the Government of Gujarat hereby makes the following rules to provide for regulating recruitment to the post of Hammerer or Hammerman (Carpentary/Smithy/Welding) (Class-IV) (Panchayat Service), namely: 1. 1. :- These rules may be called the Hammerer or Hammerman (Carpentary/ Smithy/Welding) (Class-IV) (Panchayat Service) Recruitment Rules, 1998. 2. 2. :- Appointment to the post of Hammerer or Hammerman (Carpentary/ Smithy/Welding) (Class-IV) (Panchayat Service) shall be made by direct selection. 3. 3. :- To be eligible for appointment by direct selection to the post mentioned in Rule 2, a candidate shall (a) not be less than 18 years and not more than 25 years of age; (b) (i) have passed Seventh Standard Examination; (ii) have worked for not less than two years' in a trade of carpentary or smithy or welding as the case may be; (c) have adequate knowledge of Gujarati and Hindi. 4. 4. :- A selected candidate shall be on probation for a period of six months. 5. 5. :- A selected candidate shall be required to undergo such training for such period and pass such post-training examination as may be prescribed by the Government. 6. 6. :- A selected candidate shall be required to pass the departmental examination and a examination in Gujarati or Hindi or both as may b e prescribed by the Government. A selected candidate shall be required to furnish a security and surety bond in such form for such amount and for such period as may be prescribed by the Government.
