Method of marking SCHEDULE 1 :- SCHEDULE 1 SCHEDULE 2 :- SCHEDULE II HIDES (GRADING AND MARKING) RULES, 1937 In exercise of the powers conferred by Sec. 3 of the Agricultural Produce (Grading and Marking) Act, 1937 (1 of 1937), the Governor General in Council is pleased to make the following rules, which have already been published as required under the section mentioned above. 1. Short title and application :- (1) These rules may be called the Hides (Grading and Marking) Rules, 1937. (2) They shall apply to hides produced in India. 2. Grade designations :- Grade designations to indicate the quality of hides (kips, buffaloes and calves) are set out in column 1 of Schedule I. 3. Definition of quality :- The quality indicated by such grade designations is set out, against such designations, in columns 2 to II of Schedule 1. 4. Grade designation marks :- The grade designation mark shall be indicated by 2, 3 or 4 holes of 1 [6 mm] diameter, representing A, B or C grades respectively. 1. Method of marking :- The holes shall be punched on each hide at the root of the tail at a distance of 2(6 mm] from each other and shall be arranged as shown in Schedule II. A lead seal bearing the word AGMARK on one side and a letter representing one of the weight groups namely H, M, L, or C, as the case may be, on the other, shall be secured to each hide by a piece of twine tag which should be passed through all the holes. The place of packing shall also be indicated on the lead seal in code letters. This rule prescribes the method of marking. It lays down that holes shall be punched on each hide at the root of tail at a distance of 6 mm from each other as provided in Schedule II. The rule further provides for the affixing of a lead seal with a twine bearing the word "AGMARK" on one side and a letter of the weight group. It should also show the place of packing.
