Amendment Of Section 2 Of Act Xvi Of 1927 Indian Forest (Maharashtra Amendment) Act, 1968 27 of 1968 [28 August 1968] PREAMBLE An Act further to amend the Indian Forest Act, 1927, in application to the State of Maharashtra. WHEREAS it is expedient further to amend the Indian Forest Act, 1927, in its application to the State of Maharashtra, for the purpose hereinafter appearing; It is hereby enacted in the Nineteenth Year of the Republic of India as follows :- NOTES Object.-The term forest produce as defined in section 2(4) of the Indian Forest Act, 1927 included wood-oil and rosha grass". It has been found that rosha grass in Government forests was being removed stealthily and mixed with rosha grass obtained from malki areas, and then rosha oil was derived therefrom by distillation. As rosha oil was not a forest produce, it was removed without the production of a transit pass. With a view to effecting control over rosha oil under the said Act, it was necessary to amend section 2(4) (a) of the said Act, to include rosha oil in the definition of forest produce.-Vide Statement of Objects and Reasons, Mah. Short Title :- This Act may be called the Indian Forest (Maharashtra Amendment) Act, 1968. 2. Amendment Of Section 2 Of Act Xvi Of 1927 :- In section 2 of the Indian Forest Act, 1927, in its application to the State of Maharashtra, in sub-clause (a) of clause (4), for the words "rosha grass, rauwolfia serpentina" the words "rosha grass including oil derived therefrom, rauwolfia serpentina" shall be substituted.
