Extension of Act 23 of 1839 to the rest of the State of Maharashtra INTEREST (EXTENSION) ACT, 1960 23 of 1960 [3rd November, 1960] An Act to extend the Interest Act, 1839, throughout the State of Maharashtra WHEREAS it is expedient to extend the Interest Act, 1839. throughout the State of Maharashtra; It is hereby enacted in the Eleventh Year of the Republic of India as follows 1. Short title :- This Act may be called the Interest (Extension) Act, 1960. 2. Extension of Act 23 of 1839 to the rest of the State of Maharashtra :- The Interest Act, 1839, as in force immediately before the commencement of this Act in the Bombay and Vidarbha areas of the State of Maharashtra, is hereby extended to, and shall by virtue of such extension be in force in, the rest of the State of Maharashtra.
