Whereas it is expedient further to amend the Karnataka Village Offices Abolition Act, 1961 (Karnataka Act 14 of 1961) for the purposes hereinafter appearing; Be it enacted by the Karnataka State Legislature in the fifty fourth year of the Republic of India as follows:- 1. Short Title And Commencement :- (1) This Act may be called the Karnataka Village Offices Abolition (Amendment) Act, 2003. (2) It shall come into force at once. 2. Amendment Of Section 5 :- In sub-section (3) of section 5 of the Karnataka Village Offices Abolition Act, 1961 (Karnataka Act 14 of 1961) (hereinafter referred to as the principal Act) for the words, brackets and figures "for a period of fifteen years from the date of commencement of section 1 of the Karnataka Village Offices Abolition (Amendment) Act, 1978" the words "for a period of fifteen years from the date of regrant made on or after the date of commencement of the Karnataka Village Offices Abolition (Amendment) Act, 2003" shall be substituted. 3. Amendment Of Section 7A :- In sub-section (1) of section 7A of the principal Act, for the words "for a period of fifteen years from the date of commencement of this section", the words "for a period of fifteen years from the date of regrant made on or after the date of commencement of the Karnataka Village Offices Abolition (Amendment) Act, 2003" shall be substituted.
