Laboratory Technician (Malaria) (Class-III) (Panchayat Service) Recruitment Rules, 1997 In exercise of the powers conferred by Sec. 227 r/w. Sec. 274 of the Gujarat Panchayats Act, 1993 (Guj. 18 of 1993), and in supersession of all the rules made in this behalf, the Government of Gujarat hereby makes the following rules to provide for regulating recruitment to the post of Laboratory Technician (Malaria) (Class III) (Panchayat Service), namely: 1. 1. :- These rules may be called the Laboratory Technician (Malaria) (Class- III) (Panchayat Service) Recruitment Rules, 1997. 2. 2. :- Appointment to the post of Laboratory Technician (Malaria) (Class III) (Panchayat Service) shall be made either, (a) by promotion of a person of proved merit and efficiency from amongst the persons who have worked as Malaria Suvrelliance Inspector (Class III) (Panchayat Service) for not less than five years; or (b) by direct selection. 3. 3. :- The appointment by direct selection and promotion shall be made in the ratio 1:3. 4. 4. :- To be eligible for appointment by direct selection to the post mentioned in Rule 2, a candidate shall (a) not be less than 21 years and not more than 28 years of age; (b) possess a Bachelor's degree in Biology or Microbiology as the principal subject from a University established by law in India or deemed to be a University as per the provisions of Sec. 3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956 (Act 3 of 1956). (c) have adequate knowledge of Gujarati and Hindi. 5. 5. :- A candidate appointed by direct selection shall be on probation for a period of one year. 6. 6. :- A candidate appointed by direct selection shall be required to undergo such training for such period and pass such post-training examination as may be prescribed by the Government. 7. 7. :- A selected candidate shall be required to pass the departmental examination and an examination in Hindi or Gujarati or both as may be prescribed by the Government. 8. 8. :- A candidate appointed by direct selection shall be required to furnish a security and surety bond for such amount, in such form and for such period as may be prescribed by the Government.
