Arrangement for analysis SCHEDULE 1 :- SCHEDULE I SCHEDULE 2 :- SCHEDULE II SCHEDULE 3 :- SCHEDULE III SCHEDULE 4 :- SCHEDULE IV LAC (GRADING AND MARKING) RULES, 1950 In exercise of the powers conferred by sec. 3 of the Agricultural Produce (Grading and Marking) Act, 1937 (1 of 1937), and in supersession of the Seed Lac Grading and Marking Rules, 1941, the Central Government is pleased to make the following rules, the same having been previously published as required by the said section. 1. Short title :- These Rules may be called the Lac (Grading and Marking) Rules, 1950. 2. Grade designations :- Grade designations to indicate the quality of seed lac and shellac are set out in column 1 of Schedules I and II annexed to these rules. 3. Definition of quality :- The definition of quality indicated by the grade designations is specified in columns 2 to 4 of Schedules I, II and III. NOTE.- The definition are based on the tentative Indian Standard Specification prescribed for seed lac (IS : 15- 1949) and shellac (IS : 16-1949) by the Indian Standards Institution. 4. Grade designation mark :- The grade designation mark shall consist of label bearing a design (consisting of an outline map of India in conjunction with the work AGMARK) resembling that set out in Schedule IV specifying the grade designation. 5. Method of marking :- (1) The grade designation mark label shall be securely attached to each container in a manner approved by the Agricultural Marketing Adviser. In addition to the grade designation mark, the following particulars shall be clearly marked on the label : Packing centre ............................................. Date of packing ............................................. Net weight ............................................. (2) An authorised packer may, after obtaining the previous approval of the Agricultural Marketing Adviser to the Government of India, mark his private trade mark on a container in a manner approved by the said officer, provided that the private trade mark does not represent a quality or grade of lac different from that indicated by the grade designation mark affixed on the container in accordance with these rules. 6. Method of packing :- Only new gunny bags, wooden cases or such other containers as may be approved by the Agricultural Marketing Adviser shall be used for packing and these shall, after being securely closed, be sealed in a manner approved by the Agricultural Marketing Adviser. 7. Arrangement for analysis :- An authorised packer shall make such arrangements for testing seed lac or shellac as may be prescribed by the Agricultural Marketing Adviser from time to time.
