Repeal of Central Act III of 1898 Lepers (Assam Repeal) Act, 1989 13 of 1990 [25 May 1990] PREAMBLE AN ACT to provide for repeal of the Lepers Act, 1898. Whereas the Central Government is of opinion that the Lepers Act, 1898 serves no purpose and therefore the said Act was repealed. And whereas the said Lepers Act, 1898 was extended to Assam and the Central Government desire that the State Government should repeal the said Act, in so far as it is extended to Assam. It is hereby enacted in the Fortieth Year of the Republic of India as follows:-- 1. Short title :- This Act may called the Lepers (Assam Repeal) Act, 1989. 2. Repeal of Central Act III of 1898 :- The Lepers Act, 1898 in so far as it is extended to Assam is hereby repealed.
