Leprosy Assistant (Class III) (Panchayat Service) Recruitment Rules, 1998 In exercise of the powers conferred by Sec. 227 read with Sec. 274 of the Gujarat Panchayats Act, 1993 (Guj. 18 of 1993), and in supersession of all the rules made in this behalf, the Government of Gujarat hereby makes the following rules to provide for regulating recruitment to the post of Leprosy Assistant (Class III) (Panchayat Service), namely: 1. 1. :- These rules may be called the Leprosy Assistant (Class III) (Panchayat Service) Recruitment Rules, 1998. 2. 2. :- Appointment to the post of Leprosy Assistant, (Class III) (Panchayat Ser- vice) shall be made either (a) by promotion of a person of proved merit and efficiency from amongst, the persons who have worked for not less than five years as Vaccinator (Class III) (Panchayat Service) under Panchayat Service and who possesses the qualifications prescribed in clause (i) of sub-rule (b) of Rule 4; or (b) by direct selection. 3. 3. :- The appointment by direct selection and promotion shall be made in the ratio of 1:2. 4. 4. :- To be eligible for appointment by direct selection to the post mentioned in Rule 2, a candidate shall (a) not be less than 18 years and not more than 25 years of age. (b) (i) have passed Secondary School Certificate Examination with English subject and have undergone prescribed training in Leprosy at a recognised Institute and have passed the examination held at the end of the course; OR (ii) have passed Secondary School Certificate Examination with English subject and have passed Sanitary Inspectors Examination of an institution recognised by the Government; (c) have adequate knowledge of the Gujarati and Hindi. 5. 5. :- A candidate appointed by direct selection shall be on probation for a period of one year. 6. 6. :- A candidate appointed by direct selection shall be required to undergo such training for such period and pass such post-training examination in accordance with the rules prescribed by the Government. 7. 7. :- A selected candidate shall be required to pass the departmental examination and an examination in Gujarati or Hindi or both in accordance with the rules prescribed by the Government. 8. 8. :- A candidate appointed by direct selection shall be required to furnish security and surety bond in such form for such amount, and for such preiod as may be prescribed by the Government.
