Rule Mechanic (Class-III) (Panchayat Service) Recruitment Rules, 1998 In exercise of the powers conferred by Sec. 227 read with Sec. 274 of the Gujarat Panchayats Act, 1993 (Guj. 18 of 1993) and in supersession of all the rules made in this behalf, the Government of Gujarat hereby makes the following rules to provide for regulating recruitment to the post of Mechanic (Class-III) (Panchayat Service), namely: 1. Rule :- These rules may be called the Mechanic (Class-III) (Panchayat Service) Recruitment Rules/1998. 2. Rule :- Appointment to the post of Mechanic (Class-III) (Panchayat Service) shall be made either (a) by promotion of a person of proved merit and efficiency from amongst the persons who have worked as Fitter (Class-IV) (Panchayat Service) for not less than five years; or (b) by direct selection. 3. Rule :- The appointment by direct selection and promotion shall be made in the ratio of3:l. 4. Rule :- To be eligible for appointment by direct selection to the post mentioned in Rule 2, a candidate shall (a) not be less than 21 years and not more than 30 years of age; (b) (i) have passed Secondary School Certificate Examination and a course in the trade of Mechanic from an Industrial Training Institute or possess an equivalent qualification recognised by the Government (ii) possess five years experience of repairing trucks and road rollers (c) have adequate knowledge of Gujarati and Hindi. 5. Rule :- A candidate appointed by direct selection shall be on probation for a period of one year. 6. Rule :- A candidate appointed by direct selection shall be required to undergo such training for such period and pass such post training examination as may be prescribed by the Government. 7. Rule :- A selected candidate shall be required to pass the departmental examination and an examination in Gujarati or Hindi or both as may be prescribed by the Government. 8. Rule :- A candidate appointed by direct selection shall be required to furnish a security and surety bond for such amount, in such form and for such period as may be prescribed by the Government.
