Amendment of section 31A of Act 4 of 1939 MOTOR VEHICLES (WEST BENGAL AMENDMENT) ACT, 1984 19 of 1984 [14th June, 1984] An Act to amend the Motor Vehicles Act, 1939, in its application to West Bengal. WHEREAS it is expedient to amend the Motor Vehicles Act, 1939, in its application to West Bengal, for the purpose and in the manner hereinafter appearing; It is hereby enacted as follows 1. Short title :- This Act may be called the Motor Vehicles (West Bengal Amendment) Act, 1984. 2. Application of the Act :- T h e Motor Vehicles Act, 1939 (hereinafter referred to as the principal Act) shall, in its application to West Bengal, be amended for the purpose and in the manner hereinafter provided. 3. Amendment of section 31A of Act 4 of 1939 :- In section 31A of the principal Act (1) in. sub-section (5A), (a) after the words "for the renewal of permit,", the words and figures "or for the grant of a temporary permit under section 62," shall be inserted, and (b) in the Explanation, after the words "to renew such permit", the words and figures "or to grant temporary permit under section 62" shall be inserted; (2) in sub-section (5C), after the words "for the renewal of any permit", the words and figures "or for the grant under section 62 of any temporary permit" shall be inserted; (3) in sub-section (5D), (a) after the words "for the renewal of any permit", the words "or for the grant of any temporary permit" shall be inserted,, (b) in clause (i), for the words "either renew, or refuse to renew, the permit;", the words "either renew or grant, or refuse to renew or grant, the permit;" shall be substituted, and (c) in clause (ii), after the word "renew", the words "or grant" shall be inserted; (4) in sub-section (6), after the word, figures and brackets "sub- section (1) to (5)", the figures, letters and brackets "(5A), (5B), (5C) and (5D)" shall be inserted.
