Prohibition regarding manufacture etc. of Multipurpose Dry Batteries Multipurpose Dry Batteries (Quality Control) Order, 1987 In exercise of the powers conferred by S.14 of the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 1986, the Central Government hereby makes the following order, namely:- 1. Short Title and commencement :- (1) This order may be called the Multipurpose Dry Batteries (Quality Control) Order, 1987. (2) It shall come into force on the 1st day of October, 1987. 2. Definitions :- In this order, unless the context otherwise requires :- (a) "Multipurpose Dry Batteries" means a single unit packaged power cell ready for use appropriately jacketed and labelled and intended for use in multipurpose application ; (b) "Specified standard" means the following Indian Standard/ specifications: IS: No. Title IS: 8144-1976 Specification for Multipurpose Dry Batteries 3. Prohibition regarding manufacture etc. of Multipurpose Dry Batteries :- (1) No person shall, by himself or by any person on his behalf, roanufacture or store for sale, sell or distribute any Multipurpose Dry Batteries which do not conform to the Specified standard and it would be with the Standard Mark of the Bureau of Indian Standards. Provided that nothing,in this order shall apply in relation to export of Multipurpose Dry Batteries which do not conform to the Specified standard but conform to any specifications required by the foreign buyer and such specifications shall not in any case be less than the Specified standard.. (2) The sub-standard or defective Multipurpose Dry Batteries or raw material or components which do not conform to the Specified standard shall be deformed beyond use and disposed of as scrap.
