Power Of High Court To Make Rules Orissa Merged Territories Petition Writers Continuance Of Licences Act, 1956 An Act for the continuance of licences of the Petition Writers in the Merged Territories for a limited period Whereas it is expedient to provide for the continuance of licences of the petition writers in the merged territories; It is hereby enacted by the Legislature of the State of Orissa in the Seventh Year of the Republic of India as follows:- Published vide Orissa Act No. 19 of 1956. 1. Short Title, Extent And Commencement :- (1) This Act may be called the Orissa Merged Territories Petition Writers Continuance of Licences Act, 1956. (2) It extends to the whole of the merged territories of the State of Orissa. (3) It shall be deemed to have come into force on the 1st July, 1956. 2. Definitions :- In this Act unless there is anything repugnant in the subject or context- (i) "petition writer" means a person carrying on his profession as such under the term and conditions of a valid licence in any of the merged territories of the State of Orissa during the period from the 1st January, 1948 to the 30th June, 1951; (ii) "prescribed" means prescribed by rules made by the High Court under this Act. 3. Right To Continue Profession :- A petition writer shall, subject to the prescribed rules, be entitled to continue his profession as such for his life time. 4. Power Of High Court To Make Rules :- The petition writers shall be governed by such rules as the High Court may, from time to time, make as regards control, discipline and conditions of their licences.
