RULE Police Constable (Armed Branch) Class-III, in the Gujarat Subordinate Service, in the Police Department, Recruitment Rules, 1993 In exercise of the powers conferred by clause (b) of section 5 of the Bombay Police Act, 1951 (Bom. XXII of 1951), and in supersession of all the existing rules made in this behalf, the Government of Gujarat hereby makes the following rules to provide for regulating the recruitment to the post of Police Constable (Armed Branch) Class-III, in the Gujarat Subordinate Service, in the Police Department, namely . 1. RULE :- These rules may be called the Police Constable (Armed Branch) Class-III, in the Gujarat Subordinate Service, in the Police Department, Recruitment Rules, 1993. 2. RULE :- Appointment to the post of Police Constable (Armed Branch) Class- III, in the Gujarat Subordinate Service, in the Police Department shall be made by direct selection. 3. RULE :- To be eligible for appointment by direct selection to the post mentioned in Rule-2 a candidate shall (a) not be more than twenty two years of age; provided that the upper age limit may be relaxed by five years in case of a candidate belonging to the Scheduled Castes or Scheduled Tribes or Socially and Educationally Backward Classes of Gujarat origin and upto forty five years in case of retired army personnel from combatant unit and up to forty seven years in case of retired army personnel who (i) have specialised knowledge in handling of bombs and explosive; or (ii) are experts in handling rapid fire arms; or (iii) can repair weapons or who have worked as Armourers in Armed Forces; or (iv) have worked as farriers, savars, risaldars or risaldar major in the cavalry unit of the Indian Army; or (v) have worked in the band transportation or communication in the Army; (b) have passed the Secondary School Certificate Examination conducted by the Gujarat Secondary Education Board or its equivalent examination : (c) not be less than 162 centimetres in height (157 centimetres in case of candidate belonging to Scheduled Tribes of Gujarat origin); (d) have chest measurement of not less than 77 centimetres when deflated with minimum expansion of 5 centimetres; and (e) possess adequate knowledge of Gujarati and Hindi: Provided that preference may be given to candidate knowing (i) driving of light or heavy motor Vehicles and possessing a driving licence of the same; or (ii) either English or Oujarati typing, preferably Gujarati typing with speed of not less than 20 words per minute and possessing Government Commercial certificate awarded by the State Examination Board; or (iii) Swimming; or (iv) Cycling : Provided further that in the public interest rules may be relaxed in case of a candidate who is retired army personnel from combatant unit or retired army personnel from combatant unit or retired army personnel possessing any of the specialised knowledge as mentioned in proviso to sub-rule (a) of rule 3 of these rules. 4. RULE :- A selected candidate shall be on probation for a period of two years. 5. RULE :- A selected candidate shall have to undergo such training and pass the examination during the probation period as may be prescribed by the Government from time to time. 6. RULE :- A candidate appointed by direct selection shall be required to pass the departmental examination and an examination in Hindi or Gujarati or both in accordance with the rules prescribed by the Government from time to time. 7. RULE :- A selected candidate who will be imparted training at the Government cost shall be required to serve the Government for a period of three years and shall be required to execute a security and surety bonds for such amount and for such period as may be prescribed by Government from time to time.
