Rule 8. Rule 9. Rule Police Sub-Inspector (Unarmed Branch, Class-III) Recruitment Rules, 2003 In exercise of the powers conferred by clause (b) of Sec. 5 of the Bombay Police Act, 1951 (Bom. XXII of 1951) and in supersession of all the previous rules made in this behalf the Government of Gujarat hereby makes the following rules to provide for regulating recruitment to the post of Police Sub-Inspector (Unarmed Branch, Class-Ill) in the Gujarat State Police Service, namely 1. Rule :- These rules may be called the 'Police Sub-Inspector (Unarmed Branch, Class-III) Recruitment Rules, 2003. 2. Rule :- Appointment to the post of Police Sub-Inspector (Unarmed Branch, Class-Ill) in the Gujarat State Police Service shall be made either (a) by direct selection on the basis of the competitive examination held by the Police Sub-Inspector Recruitment Board, or, (b) by special selection from amongst the persons working as Head Constable (Unarmed Branch, Class III) or Assistant Sub-Inspector (Unarmed Branch Class III) who have completed five years continuous service in Gujarat State Police and have passed Special Competitive Examination held by the Selection Board constituted under Rule 165(i)(b) of Gujarat Police Manual-1975 (Part I) and; (i) they shall be Assistant Sub-Inspector or Head Constable as the case may be, in their parent cadre, (ii) they shall have passed standard: XII. (iii) they shall not be more than 45 years of age at the commence of the Sub-Inspector's Course at the Gujarat State Police Academy. (iv) they shall have to pass Physical Efficiency Test as prescribed by the Government from time to time. (v) they have to pass the test of the knowledge of computer as prescribed by the Government from time to time : Provided that preference may be given to the candidate who possess N.C.C. 'C' Certificate Examination: Further Provided that preference may also be given to the candidates who possess heavy and light Motor driving licence, or, (c) by promotion of a person of proved merit and efficiency from amongst the persons who have worked for not less than continuous five years in the cadre of Assistant Sub-Inspector (Unarmed Branch, Class-Ill) in Gujarat State Police Service, and (i) they shall be Assistant Sub-Inspector in their parent cadre. (ii) they have to pass the departmental qualifying examination prescribed under Rule 165 of Gujarat Police Manual Volume-I, 1975. (iii) they have to pass physical efficiency test as prescribed by the Government from time to time. 3. Rule :- Appointment by direct selection, by Special selection holding competitive examination and by promotion shall be made in the ratio of 5:4:1 respectively. 4. Rule :- To be eligible for appointment by direct selection mentioned in Rule 2, a candidate shall (a) not be less than 21 years and not be more than 28 years of age: Provided that the upper age limit shall be relaxed up to 31 years in the case of Constable or Head Constable or Assistant Sub-Inspector working in the Gujarat State Police Service and having a degree of any recognised University. (b) Possess a degree of any of the University incorporated by an Act of the Central or State Legislature in India or other recognised educational institute established by an Act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as University under Sec. 3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956 or possess an equivalent qualification recognised as such by the Government for this purpose. (c) (i) not be less than 165 centimeters in height in case of male candidate (160 centimeters in case of candidate belonging to Schedule Tribes of the Gujarat Origin) and have deflated chest measurement of not less than 79 centimeters when inflated with a minimum expansion of 5 centimeters. (ii) not be less than 158 centimeters in height in case of female candidates (156 centimeters in case of candidates belonging to Schedule Tribes of the Gujarat origin) and have not less than 45 Kilograms in Weight. (d) Possess adequate knowledge of Gujarati and Hindi. (e) they have to pass the test of the knowledge of Computer as prescribed by the Government from time to time: Provided that preference may be given to candidate who possess N.C.C. "C" Certificate examination: Further provided that preference may also be given to the candidates who possess heavy and light Motor driving licence. 5. Rule :- The candidate appointed by direct selection shall be required to undergo such training and to pass post training examination and the departmental examination in accordance with the rules prescribed in that behalf by Government from time to time. 6. Rule :- The candidate appointed by direct selection shall be on probation for a period of one year after successful completion of his training. 7. Rule :- The candidate appointed by Special selection holding competitive examination shall have to pass prescribed post training examination. 8. Rule :- The candidate appointed by direct selection or by Special selection holding competitive examination or by promotion as mentioned in Rule 2, shall be required to pass the departmental examination and examination in Gujarati or Hindi or both in accordance with the rules prescribed in that behalf by the Government from time to time. 9. Rule :- The candidate appointed by direct selection shall be required to furnish a security and surety bond in such form, for such amount and for such period as may be prescribed in that behalf by the Government from time to time.
