Publication Assistant in Directorate of Archaeology Recruitment Rules, 2000 In exercise of the powers conferred by proviso to Art. 309 of the Constitution of India, the Governor of Gujarat hereby makes the following rules to provided for regulating recruitment to the post of Publication Assistant, Class-III, in the subordinate service in the Directorate of Archaeology, namely: 1. . :- These rules may be called the Publication Assistant in Directorate of Archaeology Recruitment Rules, 2000. 2. . :- Appointment to the post of Publication Assistant, Class- III, in the subordinate Service of Directorate of Archaeology shall be made either: (a) by promotion of a person of proved merit and effici ncy from amongst persons who have worked for not less than five years in the caire of Librarian, Class-III possessing adequate knowledge of diting periodicals, jo irn als or annual reports of Government Department and process of its publication; or (b) by direct selection. 3. . :- To be eligible for appointment by direct selection to the post mentioned in Rule 2, a candidate shall: (a) not be more than 30 years of age; (b) Possess (i) Second Class Bachelor's Degree in Arts from a recognised University preferably with Ancient History and Archaeology or India Culture or History or Social Anthropology or Sanskrit; or any other Classical Language. (ii) Diploma of one year in Journalism or Public Relation or Publication or Certificate Training Course therein of an institution recognised by the Government; or Two years experience of editing research books or periodicals or annual reports of Government Departments or Public Organisation and process of its publication; (iii) adeauate knowledge of Gujarati and Hindi. Provided that the upper age limit may be relaxed in favour of a candidate possessing exceptionally good qualifications or experience or both. Provided further that the upper age limit may be relaxed in case of persons already in the service of Government of Gujarat and also in favour of a candidate belonging the Schedule Caste and Scheduled Tribe or Socially and Educationally Backward Class in accordance with the provisions of the Gujarat Civil Services Classification and Recruitment (General) Rules, 1967, as amended from time to time. 4. . :- A candidate appointed by direct selection shall be on probation for a period of one year. 5. . :- A selected candidate shall be required to pass the departmental examination, if any, and examination in Gujarati or Hindi or both in accordance with the rules prescribed by the Government in that behalf from time to time. 6. . :- A candidate appointed by direct selection shall be required to furnish a security and a surety bond in such from and for such amount and for such period as may be prescribed by the Government.
