SENIOR INTELLIGENCE OFFICER (EQUIVALENT TO POLICE INSPECTOR) IN THE STATE CRIME INVESTIGATION DEPARTMENT (INTELLIGENCE BUREAU), CLASS-II RECRUITMENT RULES, 1991 In exercise of the powers conferred by clause (b) of the Section 5 of the Bombay Police Act, 1951 (Bom. XXII of 1951) the Governor of Gujarat hereby makes the following rules governing recruitment to the post of Senior Intelligence Officer (equivalent to Police Inspector) in the State Crime Investigation Department (Intelligence Bureau) in the Gujarat State Police Service, Class-II namely 1. . :- These rules may be called the Senior Intelligence Officer (Equivalent to Police Inspector) in the State Crime Investigation Department (Intelligence Bureau), Class-II Recruitment Rules, 1991. 2. . :- Appointment to the post of Senior Intelligence Officer in Crime Investigation Department (Intelligence Bureau) in the Gujarat State Police Service, Class-II shall be made either (a) by transfer of a person working in the cadre of Police Sub- Inspector Gujarat Subordinate Service, Class-Ill; Police Department on the basis of merits. or (b) by promotion of Intelligence Officer (equivalent to Police Sub- Inspector) in the State Crime Investigation Department (Intelligence Bureau) having seven years experience or (c) by direct selection on the basis of competitive examination. 3. . :- To be eligible for appointment by direct selection to the post mentioned in rule 2(c) above a candidate shall (a) not be less than 21 years of age and more than 30 years of age: Provided that the upper age limit shall be relaxed by five years in case of candidate belonging to scheduled castes or scheduled tribe or socially and educationally backward class of Gujarat origin; (b) possess a degree of any University incorporated by an Act of the Central or State Legislature in India or other educational institution established by and Act of Parliament or declared to be an University under section-3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956 or possess an equivalent qualification; (c) (i) if the candidate is a male candidate be not less than 165 centimeters in height (160 centimeters in case of candidate belonging to scheduled Tribes of Gujarat origin) and have a chest measurement of not less than 84 centimeters when full inflated with minimum of five centimeters. (c) (ii) if the candidate is a female candidate, be not less than 157 centimeters in height (155 cm. in case of S.T.candidates) and should not be less than 45 kg. in weight. (d) possess adequate knowledge of Gujarati, Hindi ad English languages. 4. . :- The candidate appointed by direct selection shall be imparted training at Government cost and shall be required to pass the departmental examination during the training as per the departmental examination rules, as may be prescribed by Government. 5. . :- A candidate appointed by direct selection shall be on probation for a period of two years: Provided that the said period of probation shall be extended at the discretion of the appointing authority. 6. . :- A selected candidate will be required to pass departmental examination within two years of his appointment. 7. . :- A selected candidate will be required to furnish a security and surety bonds in the form given in Annexure 'A' appended to these rules to serve as Intelligence Officer, Class-Ill at least for a period of five years.
