Social Welfare Inspector (Senior Grade) (Class III) (Panchayat Service) Recruitment Rules, 1998 In exercise of the powers conferred by Sec. 227 read with Sec. 274 of the Gujarat Panchayats Act, 1993 (Guj. 18 of 1993) and in supersession of all the rules made in this behalf, the Government of Gujarat hereby makes the following rules to provide for regulating recruitment to the post of Social Welfare Inspector (Senior Grade), (Class III), (Panchayat Service), namely 1. 1. :- These rules may be called the Social Welfare Inspector (Senior Grade) (Class III) (Panchayat Service) Recruitment Rules, 1998. 2. 2. :- Appointment to the post of Social Welfare (Senior Grade), (Class III), (Panchayat Service) shall be made either (a) by promotion of a person of proved merit and efficiency from amongst the persons who have worked as Social Welfare Inspector (Junior Grade), (Class III) (Panchayat Service) for not less than five years; or (b) by direct selection. 3. 3. :- Appointment by direct selection and promotion shall be made in the ratio of 2:1. 4. 4. :- To be eligible for appointment by direct selection to the post mentioned in Rule 2, a candidate shall (a) not be less than 21 years and not be more than 28 years of age; (b) possess a Bachelor's degree from a University establishmed by law in India or deemed to be University as per the provisions of Sec. 3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956 (Act 3 of 1956): Provided that the preference shall be given to a candidate having a Post Graduate degree in Arts with Sociology or an equivalent degree of a recognised university. (c) have adequate knowledge of Gujarati and Hindi. 5. 5. :- A selected candidate shall be on probation for a period of one year. 6. 6. :- A selected candidate shall be required to undergo such training for such period and pass such post training examination as may be prescribed by the Government. 7. 7. :- A selected candidate shall be required to pass the departmental examination and an examination in Gujarati or Hindi, or both as may be prescribed by the Government. 8. 8. :- A selected candidate shall be required to furnish a security and a surety bond for such amount, in such form and for such period as may be prescribed by the Government.
