STANDARDS OF WEIGHTS AND MEASURES (APPLICATION TO THE STATE OF PONDICHERRY) ORDER, 1958 In exercise of the powers conferred by Sec. 4 of the Foreign Jurisdiction Act, 1947 (47 of 1947) and of all other powers enabling it in this behalf, the Central Government hereby makes the following Order, namely :- 1. . :- This Order may be called the Standards of Weights and Measures (Application to the State of Pondicherry) Order, 1958. 2. . :- The provisions of the Standards of Weights and Measures Act, 1956(hereinafter referred to as the said Act) are hereby applied to the State of Pondicherry (hereinafter referred to as the said State) subject to- (a) any amendments to which the said Act is, for the time being generally subject in the territories to which it extends ; and (b) the subsequent provisions of this Order. 3. . :- Any reference in the said Act to the State Government or to a law not in force, in the said State, shall be construed as a reference to the Chief Commissioner, or to the corresponding law, if any, in force in the said State, as the case may be.
