Com./Sugar, dated the 14th April, 1970.-In exercise of the powers conferred by Cl. 5 of the Sugar (Control) Order, 1966, and in supersession of the order of the Government of India in the late Ministry of Food and Agriculture (Department of Food) No. G.S.R. 718/Ess. Com./Sugar, dated the 20th May, 1961, the Central Government hereby makes the following Order, namely: 1. Short title and commencement :- (1) This Order may be called the Sugar (Packing and Marking) Order, 1970.[1 ] (2) It shall come into force at once. 1. Published in the Gazette of India, Pt. II, Sec. 3 (i), dated the 14th April, 1970. 2. Packing of sugar :- 1 (1) Unless otherwise permitted by the Central Government, a producer shall pack all sugar manufactured by vacuum pan process in new jute bags conforming to the Indian Standard Specification IS : 15138-2002. (2) The mouth of each bag shall be machine stitched either in a single row or in double row. 1. Order 2 shall be substituted by Sugar (Packing and Marking) Name of the Product and Grade 5 cm .................................. Process of Manufacture 4 cm................................. Trade Mark/Name of the Factory 10cm............................................ Serial No./Lot No. 4 cm............................................. Name of the Ingredient used in the Product 4 cm............................................. Address : City, District and State 7 cm. ............................................ Amendment Order, 2002., Published in the Gazette of India, Extraordinary, Part II, Section 3(i), No. 184, dated 22nd April, 2002. 3. Quantity of sugar to be packed in each bag :- 1 Unless otherwise permitted by the Central Government, each bag shall contain 50 kilograms of sugar net. 1. Order 3 shall be substituted by Sugar (Packing and Marking) Amendment Order, 2002., Published in the Gazette of India, Extraordinary, Part II, Section 3(i), No. 184, dated 22nd April, 2002. 4. Marking on bags :- (1) Every producer shall at the time of packing mark on the bag in which the sugar is packed, its quality in terms of Indian Sugar Standards in force at that time and shall ensure that the quality of sugar contained in the bag corresponds to the quality of sugar marked thereon until it is sold and delivered by him. (2) Every bag of sugar shall bear on it, a label, the design of which is set out in the Schedule annexed to this Order specifying the following matters, namely: (i) the quantitative contents of the bag; (ii) the quality of sugar contained therein: 1[Provided that in case of sugar not conforming to Indian Sugar Standard Grade the label on the bag shall, instead of the mark "ISS" bear the mark "NON- ISS Grade;] (iii) the year in which the sugar is manufactured and packed; 2 [(iv) Process of manufacture-sulphitation or carbonation.] 1.
