Method of packing SCHEDULE 1 :- SCHEDULE I SCHEDULE 2 :- SCHEDULE II TENDU (BIDI WRAPPER) LEAF (GRADING AND MARKING) RULES, 1963 In exercise of the powers conferred by Section 3 of the Agricultural Produce (Grading and Marking) Act, 1937 (1 of 1937), the Central Government hereby makes the following rules, the same having been previously published as required by the said section, namely: 1. Short title and application :- (1) These rules may be called the Tendu (Bidi Wrapper) Leaf (Grading and Marking) Rules, 1963. (2) They shall apply to Tendu (Bidi Wrapper) leaf obtained from the tree of Diospyrus melanoxylon, grown in India. 2. Definitions :- In these rules, (1) "Agricultural Marketing Adviser" means the Agricultural Marketing Adviser to the Government of India', (2) 'Schedule' means a Schedule appended to these rules. 3. Grade designations :- __The grade designations to indicate the quality of Tendu leaf shall be as set out in column I of Schedule II. 4. Quality :- __The quality indicated by the grade designation shall be as set out against each grade designation in columns 2 to 5 of Schedule II. 5. Grade designation marks :- The grade designation mark to be affixed to each package shall consist of a label bearing the design set out in Schedule I specifying the grade designation. 6. Method of Marking :- (1) The grade designation mark shall be securely affixed to each package in a manner approved by the Agricultural Marketing Adviser. (2) In addition to the grade designation mark, each package shall be clearly marked with such particulars as may be specified by the Agricultural Marketing Adviser. (3) An authorised packer may, after obtaining the prior approval of the Agricullural Marketing Adviser, mark his private trade mark on the package, in a manner approved by the said Officer, provided that the private trade mark does not represent quality or grade of Tendu (bidi wrapper) leaf different from that indicated by the grade designation mark affixed to the package in accordance with these rules. 7. Method of packing :- (1) Only sound and clean gunny or such other materials as may be approved by the Agricultural Marketing Adviser shall be used for packing, and the packing material shall be free from any insect infestation or fungus contamination or from any undesirable smell. (2) The packages shall be securely closed and scaled in a manner approved by the Agricultural Marketing Adviser. (3) Each package shall contain Tendu (bidi wrapper) leaf of one grade designation only. (4) Tendu leaves shall be packed in a package of customary weight and bare as may be approved by the Agricultural Marketing Adviser.
