Kanwaljit Singh Ahluwalia, J.@mdashIn the present writ petition, a prayer has been made that Respondents be directed to include the locality of Petitioners in the area of Nagar Panchayat, Bhagta Bhaika, Tehsil Rampura Phull, District Bathinda.

2. The Petitioners are residents of village Bhagta Bhaika and they had voted in the election of Gram Panchayat of the village. Subsequently, Gram Panchayat of the village was converted into Nagar Panchayat and the locality of the Petitioners was excluded from the Nagar Panchayat.

3. Primary grievance of the Petitioners is that neither their locality falls within the Gram Panchayat nor in the Nagar Panchayat, and therefore, there is no authority available under the Local Self Government for redressal of their grievances.

4. Counsel for the State, on instructions from Bhupinder Singh Sra, Executive Officer, Nagar Panchayat, Bhagta Bhaika, has stated that the State Government has taken a conscious decision to de-notify the Nagar Panchayat, Bhagta Bhaika and thereafter, locality of the Petitioners shall automatically fall within the Gram Panchayat, Bhagta Bhaika. It is stated that the notification to de-notify the Nagar .

5. Panchayat, Bhagta Bhaika shall be issued within one month from today.

Counsel for the Petitioners has stated that in view of the statement made by counsel for the State, the present petition has been rendered infructuous and the same be dismissed as such.

6. Ordered accordingly.
