The 18th interim report dated 14.11.2023 has been filed by Justice B.P. Katakey (retired) Single Member Committee who has made field visits to East Jaintia Hills and also other areas. A perusal of the report is alarming. Let a copy of the report be circulated to the counsel for the parties who can obtain copies from the Registry.

The attention of the Court has also been drawn to an order dated 04.10.2023, wherein at paragraph 6 thereof this Court had directed the State to look into the allegations levelled against the private respondent therein and also allowed to file an affidavit to the affidavit filed by the petitioner in PIL No.8 of 2022. It has also been submitted that no affidavit has been forthcoming. Accordingly, it is expected that on the next date such affidavit will be on board.

It is also submitted by Mr. S. Sharma on behalf of the petitioner in PIL No.1 of 2023 that affidavit has since been filed.

Let these matters appear on 30.11.2023 for further necessary orders.
